Friday 04, December 2020

The company scored above average in the seven dimensions assessed by the B3 index and was considered a benchmark in five of them

EDP, a company that operates throughout the Brazilian electric sector chain, recorded the best performance in its history in the B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) portfolio, formerly BM&F Bovespa. It will be the 15th consecutive time that the Company will be among the most sustainable companies on the Brazilian stock exchange. The term will be from January 4, 2021 to December 30, 2021.

EDP increased its rating by 3 points, obtaining above-average grades in all dimensions of the questionnaire and being considered a benchmark in five of the seven dimensions (General, Social, Environmental, Economic and Nature of the Product). The Corporate Sustainability Index selects companies that have a high level of commitment to sustainable development, generation of shared value, corporate governance, product nature, in addition to business performance in the economic, financial, social, environmental and climate change dimensions.

“This historic performance at ISE is a source of pride for EDP, as the ESG agenda is at the heart of our strategy. We are strongly committed to leading an energy transition that favors the decarbonisation of the matrix, in addition to contributing to a more just and inclusive society ”, says Miguel Setas, President of EDP in Brazil and spokesman for the Global Compact Brazil Network for the SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The new ISE portfolio comprises 46 shares of 39 listed companies that together add up to R$ 1.8 trillion in market value, equivalent to 38% of the total value of companies with shares traded in B3. ISE is a tool for comparative analysis and reflects the return of a portfolio composed of shares of companies with the best performances in ESG aspects (Environmental, Social and Governance), being a reference for socially responsible investment.

In November, at the global level, the EDP Group was also selected to integrate, for the 13th consecutive year, the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index (DJSI World). The group obtained a final score of 88 points (out of 100), making it one of the two best integrated utilities in the world.
