Wednesday 29, May 2019

This Tuesday (28), Miguel Setas, President of EDP, a company that operates across all segments of the energy industry, was elected the Energy industry’s executive of the year by Valor Econômico, a part of the Globo Group.

At the 19th edition of the Valor Executive award chose Brazil’s top executives across 19 industries in five categories. The winners were chosen after a joint survey by the newspaper, a panel of recruitment consultancy directors from the Association of Executive Search and Leadership consultants (Aesc) and the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC).

At the assessment includes the executive’s 2018 performance in corporate management and his or her reputation in the industry. In 2018, EDP registered a Net Profit of R$ 1.3 billion, up 108% on 2017 - the company’s best result in 23 years in Brazil. After becoming main sponsor for reconstruction of the Portuguese Language Museum, this year the company announced a master sponsorship deal to rebuild the Ipiranga Museum, which has been closed since 2013.

“I dedicate this award to all my colleagues and business partners at EDP. This is more than an individual achievement, the Valor Econômico award acknowledges the hard work of the great staff that make EDP work every day”, said Miguel Setas. After arriving in Brazil 11 years ago, Miguel Setas has been heading EDP since 2014 and joined the company’s global board in 2015.
