Wednesday 20, February 2019

The Distributor will have additional technical teams on call and offer consumers guidance as part of its plan for the Vitória Carnival and the official Carnival event

EDP is implementing a special customer service plan called Operational Carnival to improve safety for party-goers and ensure uninterrupted power supplies over the Carnival period.

As part of its service quality plan, EDP is carrying out preventive maintenance and, when needed, moving its cables, especially in areas where large groups are expected to gather, such as main thoroughfares and parade routes.

At the company will also be increasing the number of on-site teams available over the Carnival period and will have mobile units at strategic locations to speed up its response to any incidents that occur during both the Vitória Carnival and the official Carnival party.

At the Company has provided several important tips to help avoid accidents and power outages so that everyone can enjoy Carnival as safely as possible:

  • Do not hang ornaments on EDP utility poles.

  • Do not connect to the grid illegally because this will increase the risk of accidents.

  • Do not install decorations near electrical cables.

  • Never throw anything (ribbons, confetti, etc.), metal or otherwise, at electrical cables. These items can become electrical conductors or even cut the cables and cause serious accidents.

  • If using sound trucks on public thoroughfares, make sure there are no electrical cables along the route that could cause accidents and if there are, please get in touch with the Distributor ahead of time so EDP can move the cabling.

  • All electrical equipment, including transformers and cables, belong to the Distributor, whether or not they are in use, and should only be handled by authorized Company technicians.
