EDP will support families in Jacareí by replacing 3,500 common bulbs with LEDs

The Good Energy in the Community project will also be teaching consumers about responsible consumption until February 15

At the Good Energy in the Community Project by EDP, an electrical energy distributor from the Vale do Paraíba, will be supporting around 500 low-income families from the Jardim Florida neighborhood through February 15 by replacing up to 3,500 energy-hungry light bulbs with LEDs. The campaign goal is to raise awareness and encourage people to use electricity safely, while spending as little as possible.

During the project, local residents will be visited by Agentes da Boa Energia (Good Energy Agents). These experts will visit households to offer advice on how to use electricity properly and safely. The Agents will also talk to customers about the Electrical Energy Social Tariff, which offers a 65% discount on energy bills, and, if needed, they will have an opportunity to negotiate any outstanding debts with the Company, which is offering special repayment terms.

Light bulb replacement

When customers are visited by an Agent, their high-energy (incandescent or compact fluorescent) light bulbs are replaced with LEDs, which are up to eight times cheaper to run and last longer. Each household can replace up to seven light bulbs at no cost.

All light bulbs collected from customers’ homes are disposed of in an eco-friendly way.

At the Good Energy in the Community project aims to help low-income customers make savings by using electricity more efficiently. “Depending on a family’s habits, lighting may represent as much as 20% of their monthly bill. They can cut costs simply by changing their everyday routine and using more cost-efficient light bulbs”, said Luciano Cavalcante, executive manager at EDP.

This initiative is part of the EDP Energy Efficiency Program in São Paulo and regulated by the National Electrical Energy Agency – ANEEL.
