EDP wins Aberje Award

The award recognizes the best corporate communication cases and institutions

EDP, a company that operates across all segments of the country’s electricity industry, was national winner of the 2018 Aberje Awards, Brazil’s biggest prize for corporate communication organizations and professionals, in the Communication of Programs, Projects and Cultural Activities category. The award ceremony took place this Monday (26), in São Paulo.



At the winner, “EDP Truck - The Power of the Portuguese Language” is a 300 m² exhibition on wheels that received 22 thousand visitors in 18 cities and eight states across the country. Visitors were able to learn more about the countries that speak Portuguese , trivia about common sayings, the language’s specific characteristics and differences between Portuguese spoken in Portugal and Brazil, in fact Portuguese is the sixth most popular language in the world and the most common language in the southern hemisphere.



“EDP believes language is a heritage that must be preserved and valued. This mobile exhibition has helped introduce some of the richness of our language to people until the Portuguese Language Museum, where we are the Master sponsor, reopens. The truck offers a wealth of information and interactive activities based around the language, generating a significant level of public interest and engagement”, said Eny Caldo, Operational Manager for Events, Sponsorships and Brand Activation at EDP.



At the event was held during the Museum’s reconstruction which EDP has supported with a R$ 20 million investment. The Company has organized several cultural and social projects through the EDP Institute to improve peoples lives in the regions where it operates and showcase the value of language, which is one of the basic values on which the company’s operations are predicated.



In October, EDP received a regional award from Aberje in the state of São Paulo, which it shared with the Roberto Marinho Foundation.
