The best project in the initiative for entrepreneurs will win 50 thousand Euros and an invitation to the Web Summit, in Portugal

EDP Open Innovation, a global competition for start-ups in the electricity industry, has selected GoEpik as one of the finalists in the competition’s 7th edition. The Brazilian company provides augmented reality projects for all areas of the industry, helping to cut costs, increase productivity and solve everyday problems affecting production lines.

At the start-ups that have been selected are Deep (Germany), Ecolibrium Energy (India), EZZING (Spain), Odit-e (France), sensfix BV (Netherlands), Greeneum Network (Israel), GoParity (Portugal), MycroftMind (Czech Republic) and SAMAWATT (Switzerland), featuring projects in Clean Energy, Digital Innovation, Customer-focused Solutions, Smart Networks and Energy Storage.

Projects competing in the 2018 competition are focused on innovation and key industry trends to  decarbonize, decentralize and digitalize. The jury selected projects that can make a difference in this ever-changing market, as innovation and technology play an increasingly important role in the energy industry.

“The 7th edition of the EDP Open Innovation award challenges entrepreneurs from around the world to find solutions that can be applied across the energy industry. This year we assessed entries from 34 countries and chose projects from ten different nations for the final” said Livia Brando, Innovation manager at EDP Brazil.

All ten start-ups will go through a period of immersion in Lisbon between October 17 and 30, integrating with the EDP Group global entrepreneur community and receiving support from Beta-i, one of the main European entrepreneurship organizations. The winning team will be awarded 50 thousand Euros to invest in their own business, while the top three entrepreneurs will be given the opportunity to attend the Web Summit, the world’s international technology event focusing on startups, which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal.
