EDP is one of Brazil’s 50 biggest companies on the Valor 1000 ranking

According to the Valor 1000 annual, which is produced by Valor Econômico newspaper based on financial data, EDP, a company that operates across every sector of the energy market, is one of Brazil’s 50 biggest companies. This means that EDP gained 18 places on its 2017 position, reaching 47th on the overall ranking. 



This month, the corporation had already been included on the list of Brazil’s 50 largest companies according to EXAME magazines Best and Biggest special edition, improving 14 places compared to last year.The magazine also highlighted EDP Comercializadora as one of the ten fastest - growing companies and EDP Espírito Santo was singled out as one of the top ten companies for shareholder returns.The Best and Biggest list is produced by Fipecafi,a foundation related to University of São Paulo, and ranks Brazil’s 1000 largest organizations. & nbsp;

EDP has over 20 years’ experience and is one of the biggest private-sector companies operating across the entire value chain. The Company has over 10,000 direct and indirect employees and is involved in Energy Transmission, Trading and Solutions. It also operates 15 hydropower plants and one thermal power station. Its Distribution business serves around 3.4 million customers in São Paulo and Espírito Santo. Recently, the company also acquired a stake in CELESC, which is based in Santa Catarina. In Brazil, EDP is noted in the Innovation, Governance and Sustainability areas and has been included in the B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) for 12 consecutive years.
